About Me

A journalist at the core.

Writing has been my passion right from my college days. I used to write short stories, fiction, and even poetry.

I completed my post graduate Diploma in journalism and mass communication through IGNOU, besides my academic qualifications as B.Sc, LL.B.

I served State Bank of India, since 1980. Took early retirement (Voluntarily) in December 2013. I also completed my Internal banking course equivalent to “junior associate of Indian Institute of Bankers”.

The scenario which prevailed in Kashmir, during militancy and even after that, inspired me to write something for the well being of the Kashmiri community. I decided to become a freelance journalist and started expressing my views regarding everything which I thought should be touched and wrote about.

Also,I anchored a western music program on All India Radio,Srinagar and Jammu since 1979, for almost three decades.

I anchored an english TV show, on a local TV channel in Jammu in 2008 for almost seven years.

I wrote columns for a local news paper, ” State Times”in late nineties.

Today, I am not, only writing on issues relating to Kashmir and Kashmiri’s, but on all National and International issues which I feel like sharing my views on, & writing about.

If your instincts are positive and you are motivated by the happenings, whether good or bad, around you, and you think you can take it in the right perspective, in order to do some service to the mankind, you are a true journalist. And mainstream journalism, if pursued in the right earnest, with purposeful and sincere intent, can bring a sea change in the world order.

I believe, If we hold the values of journalism quite high in our eyes, we are definitely doing justice to the main essence of “Journalism”, both print and electronic journalism.

Last but not the least, jounalism is related to freedom, and for me, “Freedom Comes From Within”.
